Three Tips for Apartment Living with a Dog

Along with providing us with years of happiness, pets can provide a number of health benefits , including decreased blood pressure and increased opportunities for exercise and socialization. If you are—or plan to become—a dog owner, it’s important to return the favor and make sure they are happy and healthy at home.

Stadium House Apartments in Anaheim, California, came up with a list of three tips on how to do just that while living in one of our pet-friendly apartments. Let’s take a look!

Create a Training Routine

One of the best things you can do for your pet is to properly train them for life in an apartment, which can include things like keeping barking to a minimum , potty training , and minimizing destructive behavior . This approach can vary based on your pet’s breed, age, and personality, so it’s best to consult your veterinarian with any specific questions.

Not unlike people, dogs are creatures of habit, so establishing a routine will help to reinforce training. If your dog knows that their morning walk includes a bathroom break, they are less likely to have an accident in the apartment. A routine also helps to alleviate separation anxiety that your pet may experience while you’re not at home.

Get Plenty of Exercise

All dogs need exercise in order to stay healthy. Depending on your dog’s breed and age, this can be something as simple as a walk around the block or may require some more active playtime in order to get rid of the zoomies .

Stadium House offers convenient on-site paths for walks and a dedicated dog run area with agility equipment for our canine residents to exercise and play, which can also aid in socialization with our other tenants—both two- and four-legged. We’re also a short distance from some popular Anaheim-area parks, including Jacaranda Dog Park and Olive Hills Dog Park .

Provide Them with Their Own Space

For your dog to feel comfortable in your pet-friendly apartment, it’s nice to provide them with a space that is their own . It can include their bed, toys, food, and water in one central location so that if they start to get anxious, they have somewhere they can go where they feel safe.

Our one-, two-, and three-bedroom pet-friendly apartments provide plenty of space for your furry friend to roam while also giving you enough room to create a little haven specifically for your furry friend.

While this list is not all-inclusive, we hope it has provided you with some ideas of how to make sure your pet is happy and healthy at home. At Stadium House Apartments , we understand that your pet is a part of your family, so we developed our pet policy* with that in mind.
